The 2017 Hyundai Elantra was the first small car to land the Top Safety Pick+ designation for the latest year when equipped with optional front crash prevention. Elantra nailed the top score in all five crash tests and had its prevention system rated superior by the IIHS. Only models built after March 2016 have this rating. Emergency auto-brake and pedestrian detection features are also available.
