Buick was showing the way to the future in the early post-war period with truly great cars like this 1950 Super convertible. Built on a 121.5 inch wheelbase, this rust-free Virginia vehicle makes a great first impression with new professionally-applied base coat Red paint, polished stainless steel trim and new chrome, plenty of which is featured up front in the Buick’s famous vertical bar grille and wraparound bumpers. Wide Whitewall bias ply tires and full wheel covers add to this Super convertible’s elegant air. The stylish and roomy interior features Red leather upholstery, plush carpets, power windows and front seat, a power-operated Haartz soft top with a glass rear window, in-dash clock and factory AM radio. While Oldsmobile and Cadillac were moving to high compression V-8 engines, Buick customers were still demanding the high-torque and smooth-running 263/124 HP Fireball valve-in-head inline-8, in this case paired with Buick’s revolutionary Dynalfow automatic transmission. This is early-Fifties Buick style at its best.
