The genesis for the MBZ G Wagon came out of a colossal 20,000 truck order from the Shah of Iran in the 1970s. A major shareholder in Mercedes-Benz at the time, the Shah's order represented a hugely lucrative deal at the time, and Mercedes jumped at the chance.
