The MG ‘Midgets’ offered 60mph performance for just £185 in 1929. That value proposition only got better through the improved J-types with twin carbs and four-speed ’boxes, then the more famous P-types that were all over the burgeoning amateur motorsport scene and which inspired a new US audience for British sports cars.
