The coupe and convertible versions
of the VW Beetle were named after Karmann, which hand-built their
bodies, and Italian design company Ghia, which looked after the
styling. Ghia’s work made this perhaps the most beautiful
Volkswagen ever.
Two other VW Karmann Ghias were devised,
one by Volkswagen itself and one by its Brazilian subsidiary. They
were interesting, but neither had anything like the charm of the
first.
