TheVolkswagen took the wraps off the classic Microbus-styled I.D. BUZZ (cough, cough) concept at the Detroit auto show, previewing one of the Modular Electric Drive Kit (MEB) platform electric vehicles it plans to field in the next few years. The second in a line of I.D. concepts, the BUZZ features a completely electric powertrain with a range of up to 270 miles. The BUZZ concept has one electric motor at the front axle and also one at the rear, with the two producing a total of 369 hp. VW says that the all-wheel-drive BUZZ can make the sprint from 0-60 mph in just five seconds and up to a top speed of 99 mph, decidedly unlike the microbus of yore.
