1955 Mercedes-Benz 300 SLR Uhlenhaut Coupé
Sold for $143 million on May 5th
This made it the most expensive car ever sold at auction.

The W196 S won the world title, with Juan Manuel Fangio behind the steering wheel.

That is why the 300 SLR Uhlenhaut Coupe’s engine is a 3.0-liter inline 8-cylinder direct injection unit with 276 HP, compared to the 3.0-liter inline 6-cylinder under the hood of the 300 SL Gullwing. With a top speed of 290 km/h, the 300 SLR Uhlenhaut Coupe was the fastest car of its era.
